The city of Afyonkarahisar is one of the most significant hubs in our country for the food industry, following the marble sector. Prior to the establishment of the AKU Department of Food Engineering, only a two-year associate degree was offered following basic education.

One of the primary founding objectives of our department is to train food engineers—who are indispensable to the city of Afyonkarahisar—and to contribute to academia through our master’s and doctoral programs.

With the high-quality education provided in the fields of food science and food technology, the AKU Department of Food Engineering raises students who are well-equipped to serve in both the private sector and public institutions such as ministry of agriculture and forestry etc.
